What makes KeepCup stand out in terms of sustainability and design?

KeepCup has done the work. Impact verified, not just claimed. Our Life Cycle Analysis found that after just 24 uses, most KeepCup's have a lower carbon footprint than single use alternatives, with 66 uses for insulated stainless steel products. This sets KeepCup apart in its commitment to drive reuse.

Recycled and recovered materials chosen for longevity. Modular design. Local manufacture and assembly. Sedex audited supply chain, solar-powered offices, Living Wage commitment, oh and B Corp certified since 2014. As a 1% for the Planet member, we've donated $2,000,000 to causes advocating against single-use and for a biodiverse planet.

KeepCup is a business founded on impact, and good product design is how we get there. The best reusable is the one you want to use.

What is the KeepCup use breakeven?

Breakeven is the number of times you need to use a KeepCup to cover the environmental impact of the product lifespan compared to single-use cups. For our insulated Commuter range, that's about 66 uses. Brew Cork, 24 uses and Original 20 uses*. After that every coffee is a win. Give our Impact Calculator a go to track your own impact.

Which KeepCup Product is the most sustainable?

The most sustainable KeepCup is the one you'll actually use, but we've conducted a Life Cycle Analysis to determine the breakeven of our reusable range.

This considers the impact of manufacturing and washing a KeepCup over a four-year lifespan when compared to single-use cups.

KeepCup Original - plastic = 20 uses, KeepCup Brew Cork - tempered glass = 24 uses, KeepCup Thermal & Commuter - insulated stainless steel = 66 uses.

These differences largely reflect the embodied energy in steel manufacturing compared to plastic or glass. This is the bare minimum use of the product but underscores the environmental ‘cost per wear’. Fewer things, good design, built to last, used often. A good way to make decisions around what to purchase.
